While under the global pandemics, Intellectual Property in China is still on the track of rapid development. Recently, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) has released some Chinese IP data in the year of 2020 which shows:
From January to September of 2020, CNIPA has received in total 1.103 million new patent for invention applications. 361,000 invention patents were granted during the same period. As reported by the CNIPA, by the end of September 2020, the number of effective invention patents in China is 2.929 million among which 2.095 million patents are owned by Chinese.
From January to September of 2020, CNIPA has received in total 2.133 million utility model applications and 1.725 million utility model were granted. By the end of September 2020, the number of effective utility model patents in China is 6.494 million in total.
From January to September, CNIPA has received 561,000 industrial design applications and 555,000 design patents were granted. By the end of September 2020, the number of effective design patents in China is 2.102 million.
From January to September, CNIPA has received 49,000 PCT international patent applications of which 45,000 were filed by Chinese.
From January to September, CNIPA has received 40,300 reexamination requests and closed 37,900 cases. 4,400 invalidation requests were accepted by CNIPA and 6,100 cases were winded-up.
From January to September 2020, the number of trademark applications in China is 6.867 million and the number of trademark registrations is 4.131 million. By the end of September 2020, there are totally 28.717 million valid registered trademarks in China.
From January to September, CNIPA received 5,836 applications for Madrid trademark international registration from Chinese applicants.
From January to September, CNIPA received 262,000 applications for various trademark review and 267,000 cases were winded-up.
